Version 6 for GST
Lewis CROSS-CHEQUE Introduced in April
2000.
The new version lets
you account for GST whether your accounting method is Cash or Accruals,
and whether you report Quarterly or Monthly.
In the Windows
version you will be able to scroll back and forward through reports. We will send the 32-bit version unless
requested otherwise. The CROSS-CHEQUE
manual has been re-written and is in a loose-leaf format. It will be sent as part of the upgrade.
Handling GST
Expenditure / Income Screen. As in previous versions you just enter the
basic information: date, amount, payee, cheque number and the category. CROSS-CHEQUE will automatically know the GST
effect. This is because the category set-up screen has questions
about the GST status.
Reporting. CROSS-CHEQUE will report on the various
amounts needed to calculate GST. This
can be by printed report or screen display or by transfer to the new Lewis BASiNET package.
Accrual basis. CROSS-CHEQUE lets you enter payables and
receivables, using a screen very similar to the standard expense and income
screen. If you are not using a
specialised package for creditors (such as Lewis ACCOUNTS PAYABLE) or debtors (such as Lewis ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE), this lets you easily find the amount of supply (debtors) and
acquisitions (creditors) outstanding at the end of each accounting period.
Improvements to Windows Version
We are now producing
a 32-bit version for Windows, using the latest Microsoft Visual Basic
compiler. This will run fine on Windows
95, 98, NT4 and 2000. We will send this
32-bit version, unless you are still using Windows 3.1, in which case we will
send you the 16-bit version.
The payee look-up has been improved. The drop-down list will show the payee names, while you will still be able to
do a quick entry if you know the payee abbreviation.
There is a new
alternative way to display a report (which we call ListBox). This has a vertical scroll-bar so you can
move backwards or forwards through the report.
If you are on a
Windows network, you will be able to choose which printer.
New Manual
The manual has been
rewritten to reflect the changes brought about by the GST. There are guidelines on how to set up the GST
aspect for many types of categories.
There are also notes on the transition to GST. The new manual will be included with the
upgrade. It is contained in a red
loose-leaf binder. We have been using
this binder for manuals since February 1999.
